Honda tractor wont start!! Not the battery, wont even turn over
All of a sudden our Honda tractor wont start. We were just using it and when we came back the next day, it wont even turn over. We left it in the on position by accident (though that likely could have nothing to do with it)
The battery has a full charge and even jumped with another 12volt battery. The starter will sometimes make a quick chug, but now not a single noise. What could be the issue?? The starter going bad? Some kind of electrical problem?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
To make sure it is the starter and not some other electrical problem. First make sure the blades are disengaged and it is in neutral. I know that sounds obvious but you can't be too safe. Now, connect the Neg. jumper cable to the frame Connect Pos. to the bolt on the starter where the pos. wire is connected. It should be a red wire. If the starter turn it is good. It should not matter if the key is on or not for this. If it is good I would suspect the starter solenoid. Not sure where it would be on a Honda but the Pos. cable from the battery is connected directly to it. If that is good check the safety switches. There should be one for reverse, usuall at the shifter. One under the seat and one for the blades at the blade control lever.
